India, May 20 -- Popular Bangladeshi singer Mainul Ahsan Noble, who gained immense popularity in the bordering Indian state of West Bengal, has been arrested from Dhaka in a rape case.
Police arrested the singer from Sarulia at Demra around 2:00am after a woman filed a case against him on charges of rape and torture.
A student of Eden Mahila College filed the case last night, Mahmudur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Demra Police Station told The Daily Star.
The victim has been sent to a hospital in Dhaka.
The singer gained popularity in India after participating and finishing third in the popular reality show "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" on Zee Bangla TV.
