India, March 28 -- Bangladesh Interim government chief Muhammad Yunus on Friday met Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, in Beijing when they discussed issues related to bilateral ties, a step taken amid strained ties between Dhaka and New Delhi following the exit of ousted former PM Sheikh Hasina on August 5, 2024.
According to Bangladeshi media reports, the meeting took place in the Great Hall of the People.
During his visit, Yunus has reportedly urged China to reduce interest rates for Chinese loans from 3 percent to 1-2 percent, while also seeking a waiver on commitment fees for Chinese-funded projects.
