Kolkata, March 23 -- The first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest, Bachendri Pal, on Friday dedicated the Padma Bhushan award, she received from President Ram Nath Kovind recently, to her parents, her present employer Tata Steel, the Indian government and the Indian Mountaineering Foundation.

The award was given to her by the Government of India for her contribution in the field of mountaineering and women empowerment. Bachendri reached the worlds highest mountain as a member of the Indian Everest Expedition, organized by Indian Mountaineering Foundation ( IMF), in 1984.
