Canberra/IBNS, Oct. 29 -- The first T20I match between India and Australia was washed out due to rain at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Wednesday.

India scored 97-1 in 9.4 overs when the match was called off completely due to rain.

India captain Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill were batting at 39 and 37 respectively.

Three spinners- Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy- were in the bowling unit alongside pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana.

Prior to this T20I series, the hosts had won the ODI series.
