Kolkata, Feb. 7 -- In a significant boost to India's dairy industry, Amul has announced plans to establish the world's largest curd (dahi) manufacturing facility in Kolkata, media reports said.
The Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), which owns the Amul brand, confirmed the Rs 600 crore investment during the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) 2025.
It is being developed in two phases by Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd, Anand.
Kolkata and its neighbouring regions have a high demand for curd, especially for traditional varieties like 'tok doi' (sour curd) and 'mishti doi' (sweet curd).
The new facility aims to cater to this growing market while strengthening Amul's presence in West Bengal.
