India, Jan. 30 -- India and Bangladesh have concluded the exchange of fishermen detained for inadvertently crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line, even as bilateral ties remain under strain.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Indian fishermen who had crossed into Bangladeshi waters were recently arrested by Bangladesh authorities. Similarly, Bangladeshi fishermen were apprehended by Indian authorities for crossing into Indian waters.
According to the MEA, the two governments on Thursday successfully completed the release and repatriation of 23 Indian fishermen and 128 Bangladeshi fishermen, along with their operable vessel.
