Jammu/IBNS, July 17 -- The Amarnath Yatra, an annual Hindu pilgrimage, was on Thursday suspended after heavy rain lashed out at Jammu and Kashmir, media reports said.

Heavy rain has been warned in most parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The valley has been receiving rains for the last 36 hours.

The yatra is likely to resume on Friday in all likelihood if weather permits.

The pilgrimage has been suspended a day after one woman died and three others were injured in a landslide that took place along the Baltal route of the yatra in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The 38-day annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave Shrine in the Himalayas of Jammu and Kashmir will conclude on August 9.
