India, Sept. 20 -- Aerospace major Airbus is likely to set up a new R&D Centre of Excellence at Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya in Gujarat.

During a recent meeting, Jurgen Westermeier, MD at Airbus, told Indian MinisterAshwini Vaishnaw that the company is sourcing more than USD 1 billion worth of components from over 100 Indian suppliers.

In an X post, Vaishnaw said: "Glad to know from Mr. Jurgen Westermeier, MD, Airbus India that Airbus is sourcing $1 billion+ worth components and has 100+ Indian suppliers."

Last year, Airbus had inaugurated its new India and South Asia Headquarters located at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.
