India, Nov. 3 -- An Air India flight from San Francisco to Delhi made an unscheduled landing in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, after the crew detected a possible technical issue mid-air, the airline said on Monday.

In a statement, Air India confirmed that the Boeing 777 aircraft landed safely and that all passengers and crew were safe. The aircraft is currently undergoing technical checks in Ulaanbaatar.

The airline also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by what it described as an "unforeseen situation," adding that passenger and crew safety remains its top priority.

Flight-tracking website Flightradar24.com showed that the aircraft diverted to Mongolia during its transpolar route toward India.
