Bengaluru/IBNS, June 19 -- The Karnataka government on Thursday told the Supreme Court that it would ensure adequate securities to theatres if Kamal Haasan's Thug Life releases in the state, media reports said.
The film was earlier banned over Haasan's controversial remark on Kannada.
The top court has asked the state government to take action if any threat is issued against the film's screening.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday slammed the ban on Thug Life in Karnataka stating "the rule of law must prevail".
A bench comprising Justices Ujjal Bhuyan and Manmohan expressed concern over the ban on the film while hearing a plea filed by one Mahesh Reddy who sought directions for the film's release.
