Washington DC/IBNS, Dec. 19 -- US President Donald Trump has suspended the green card diversity lottery programme following the deadly shootings at Brown University and MIT, media reports said.

The move came after authorities revealed that the suspect involved in the Brown University shooting had entered the United States through the Diversity Visa (DV1) lottery programme.

Announcing the decision on X, Kristi Noem, Secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security, said the Brown University shooter, Claudio Manuel Neves Valente, entered the US under the diversity lottery visa in 2017 and was later granted a green card.
