India, Feb. 15 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has sent flowers and sweets to BNP chief Tarique Rahman over his political outfit's strong victory in the general polls, a democratic step taken by the country for the first time since former PM Sheikh Hasina was ousted from power on August 5, 2024.

The floral greetings and sweets were received at the BNP chairperson's political office in Gulshan by party media cell member Atiqur Rahman Ruman, reported Indi Today news channel.

Congratulating the people of Bangladesh over the poll victory, Banerjee wrote on X: "My hearty congratulations, shubhonandan, to all my brothers and sisters, all the people, in Bangladesh. My advance Ramazan mubarak to all of them."
