Kabul, Sept. 17 -- Two blasts rocked Afghanistan's Charikar and Kabul cities on Tuesday with one of them even targeting a rally that was addressed by country's President Ashraf Ghani.

The blast close to the rally in Charikar left 24 killed and 30 others injured, local media reports said.

The blast occurred at a time when Ghani was about to address the campaign rally.

It occurred close to the US Embassy.

Officials at the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the explosion near Massoud Square was caused by a suicide attacker and that it detonated close to one of the Ministry of Defense's buildings in Police District 9 (PD9) in the city of Kabul, reported Tolo News.
