INDIA, March 21 -- Over 400,000 people have signed a petition that calls on the UK government to stop the Brexit procedure and enable the country to remain in the European Union, as of Thursday.

"The government repeatedly claims exiting the EU is 'the will of the people'. We need to put a stop to this claim by proving the strength of public support now, for remaining in the EU. A People's Vote [march, calling for a second referendum on UK withdrawal] may not happen - so vote now," the text of the petition, launched by Margaret Anne Georgiadou, read. The Parliament is now due to consider this petition for a debate, since it has gone through the 100,000 mark.
