Washington DC/IBNS, Nov. 22 -- A surprise intervention from his staunch opponent US President Donald Trump saved New York City's new and first Muslim Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani from a question on whether he affirms the Republican is a "fascist".

During the press briefing at the White House, a journalist asks Mamdani, "Are you affirming that you think President Trump is a fascist?"

"I've spoken about," Mamdani said as he tried to answer the question.

Trump on Friday called his meeting with New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani "very productive," signalling an end to the sharp exchanges that had marked the election campaign.
