New Delhi/IBNS, Sept. 9 -- 'CP Radhakrishnan will strengthen Constitutional values and enhance Parliamentary discourse', said Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulating the NDA nominee, who won the Vice-Presidential election on Tuesday.
Radhakrishnan was elected to the post through the day-long polling that started at 10 am sharp with the first vote being cast by PM Modi at the Parliament House.
Radhakrishnan defeated his opponent ex-Supreme Court judge B Sudershan Reddy, who was fielded by the INDIA bloc, by 152 votes, which is one of the lowest margins in the Vice-Presidential election.
While Radhakrishnan got 452 first preferential votes, Reddy secured 300 first preferential votes.
