India, Oct. 23 -- Amid ongoing speculation over a possible leadership change in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, has said that his father is in the "final phase" of his political career and should play the role of a 'margdarshak' (mentor) to fellow Congress leader and Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi, media reports said.

Yathindra's comments, made at an event in Belagavi attended by Jarkiholi, have reignited chatter about succession within the Karnataka Congress, even as the party leadership continues to deny any rift between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
