New Delhi/IBNS, March 8 -- Amid increasing tensions between China and the United States, particularly after the Donald Trump administration doubled tariffs on Chinese imports to 20 percent, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi Friday called on New Delhi and Beijing to work together and "take the lead in opposing hegemonism and power politics".

Speaking after a National People's Congress meeting, Wang reportedly said: "making the dragon and elephant dance is the only right choice".

He also declared that if Asia's two largest economies come together, the "democratisation of international relations and development and strengthening of 'Global South' will have a brighter future".

India is yet to respond to this statement.
