New Delhi, Oct. 21 -- Former Niti Aayog Chairman Amitabh Kant has said India's anti-graft ombudsman-Lokpal-should cancel its tender to buy BMW luxury cars and procure electric vehicles manufactured domestically, media reports said.

Kant urged the Lokapal to choose electric vehicles made in India by makers like Tata Motors and Mahindra. He also suggested some models in a post on X.

His post comes after the Lokapal floated a tender to acquire seven BMW 3 Series 330Li M Sport cars, together worth around Rs 5 crore, reported Business Today.

The tender said the luxury cars will be used by its chairman and six members against its sanctioned strength of eight, said the report.
