India, Aug. 5 -- The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after its IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya allegedly made a claim that "there is, in fact, no language called Bengali" while defending the Delhi Police's blatant action of dismissing Bengali as a "Bangladeshi language".

Tearing into BJP's "Bangla-Birodhi stance", AITC termed this as an attack on constitutional values and called it a "linguistic apartheid". Furthering the attack, AITC demanded that such statements be condemned and opposed.
