India, Oct. 6 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday strongly condemned the shocking incident inside the Supreme Court of India, where an elderly lawyer hurled a shoe towards Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai during court proceedings.

The shoe did not reach the bench, and the man was immediately restrained by security personnel.

"Spoke to Chief Justice of India, Justice BR Gavai Ji. The attack on him earlier today in the Supreme Court premises has angered every Indian. There is no place for such reprehensible acts in our society. It is utterly condemnable," the Prime Minister posted on X.
