New Delhi/IBNS, Feb. 5 -- "A bad day," wrote Ishaan Tharoor, son of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, after he was among nearly 300 employees laid off by The Washington Post in one of the sharpest rounds of job cuts in recent American media history.

Ishaan, a global affairs columnist with the Post, confirmed his layoff, describing the moment as "heartbreaking".

Ishaan also posted the phrase "Democracy dies in darkness" on X, captioning it "A bad day". The post was shared by Shashi Tharoor on his X handle.
