India, March 4 -- IT services giant Tech Mahindra has announced a new multimodal large language model (LLM) for telecom operators.

Developed on top of NVIDIA AI Enterprise software and AWS cloud infrastructure, the LLM will be based on Meta's Llama 3.1 8b instruct model.

In a statement, Tech Mahindra said that the new model will pave the way for the transformation of traditional telecom networks into fully autonomous networks (L4 and above).

The company also noted that the LLM will be built by utilising the latest generative AI (GenAI) and agentic AI frameworks, and will be trained on large network datasets.
