India, March 1 -- Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran has reportedly said that for India it is "imperative" to focus on sovereign artificial intelligence capabilities, warning of the country's exposure risks to 'digital colonisation.'
"If we don't develop sovereign AI capabilities, we have a major risk of having all our activities, languages and cultures being processed by AI engines that don't understand India. So it will take it to a different place, a kind of digital colonialism that we should avoid. It's an imperative (to focus on AI)," Chandrasekaran was quoted as saying in PTI's report.
He was speaking at the Mumbai Tech Week.
