India, Feb. 19 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined India's MANAV Vision for AI at the 'India AI Impact Summit 2026' today, appealing to world leaders and technology pioneers to keep AI safe, democratic and open for all.

The acronym MANAV stands for: moral and ethical system, accountable governance, national sovereignty, accessible and inclusive, valid and legitimate.

Stating that the future of humanity will be decided by the direction AI takes in the present, the PM pushed for AI systems that are based on ethical guidance, transparent rules and robust oversight to ensure the technology doesn't turn destructive.
