India, Aug. 22 -- OpenAI is set to open its first India office in Delhi NCR later this year as the ChatGPT maker looks to deepen its presence in one of its largest markets.

OpenAI said in a statement that this expansion is to show its support to the Indian government's IndiaAI Mission, while also partnering with the Centre for "building artificial intelligence (AI) for India with India."

The company also foresees that its presence in the country would enable it to have a deeper understanding of the nature of its demand for its tools from diverse users across India, comprising a mix of developers, professionals, students and educators.
