India, Feb. 19 -- India's snacks market is projected to reach Rs.1 Lakh Cr by 2033. However, many popular items in these categories, such as imli (tamarind) pops and coconut laddoos, are locally produced. Urban consumers often overlook these familiar flavours because they can be difficult to find. Moreover, concerns about hygiene and quality make people hesitant to try these products.
When Vinay Kothari came across locally made jackfruit bars while trekking in the Western Ghats, he was pleasantly surprised. He brought a batch back to Bengaluru, set up a stall and sold it out in half a day. It became evident that Indian snacks had strong demand but lacked a formal business structure.
