India, April 7 -- Microsoft-owned GitHub, the open-source community and platform for developers, claimed it witnessed 1.8 Mn new developer registrations from India in 2020, taking the total number of Indian GitHub developers to 5.8 Mn.

The key statistic was revealed by the US-based software development platform's chief operating officer Erica Brescia during GitHub Satellite India 2021 late last month.

GitHub launched its India operations last year, by setting up a centre to get more developers and enterprise customers from the country.
