India, March 17 -- The central government's e-marketplace (GeM) has surpassed INR 5 Lakh Cr in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) on its portal before the end of current fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25).

The national public procurement portal already surpassed the total order value of goods sold in FY24 by recording GMV of INR 4 Lakh Cr by January 23, 2025. Now, in less than 50 days, it has recorded more than INR 1 Lakh Cr in GMV taking the total above INR 5 Lakh Cr mark.

"Notably, the leap from Rs.4 lakh crore to Rs.5 lakh crore was accomplished in less than 50 days since crossing the previous benchmark on 23rd January 2025," the official statement said.
