India, March 17 -- The newly elected Delhi government is reportedly mulling banning registrations of non-EV two-wheelers from August 2026 under its Electric Vehicle Policy 2.0.

According to a Hindustan Times report, the new policy will propose that every third private car purchased in Delhi households must be an EV and no fossil fuel-run three-wheelers should be registered from August this year.

The report said that the policy has received in-principle approval from Delhi transport minister Pankaj Kumar Singh and will be presented to the state cabinet soon. The policy aims to accelerate the transition to electric mobility and strengthen Delhi's position as a leader in EV adoption in the country.
