India, Oct. 8 -- Artificial intelligence (AI) company Anthropic is reportedly exploring a partnership with homegrown conglomerate Reliance Industries (RIL) to deepen its presence in India.

Sources told Techcrunch that Anthropic cofounder and CEO Dario Amodei will meet Mukesh Ambani and other senior RIL executives during his visit to India later this week. As per the report, the two companies have been in discussions for "some time" over a potential partnership to expand access to its Claude AI assistant in India.

While the details are scarce, the potential deal could mirror rival Perplexity's move, which partnered with Airtel to offer Pro subscription for free to the telecom giant's users in the country.
