Manipur, Jan. 29 -- Villagers of Pumlen Yangbi feartheir village may soon turn into a wetland, andhave drawn the attention of the state government to save them. They also urged the government for cleaning upPumlenpat.

Addressing the press on Saturday at the Manipur Press Club, Pumlen Yangbi Development Organisation vice presidentInganba Waikhomsaid due to the Loktak project, the Imphal River flow was blocked and the water is now flowing towards Pumlenpat.

Some agricultural lands have been innundated and the continuous spread of thick biomass in the lake has blocked the paths, he added.
