Two-day Thangta festival to begin from May 22

IMPHAL, May 22 -- Two-day "Festival of Thangta" will begin from May 22 till 23 at Huyen Lallong Thang-ta Association complex Irilbung.

A release by the director of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) stated that the festival which will be jointly organised by JNMDA and Huyen Lallong Thang-ta Association Irilbung would be devoted to performance by ten different Thang-ta groups.

Vice chairman, JNMDA H. Tombi Singh and director of Art and Culture department will be attending the inaugural function as chief guest and president. The festival which has been organised for the last 4-5 years is dedicated to Sangeet Natak Akademi Aawardee and Padmashri late guru, G. Gourakishore Sharma, stated the release.
