Manipur, April 10 -- Champhung model village is set to be constructed under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).

Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba laid the foundation stone for construction of Champhung Model Village located at extreme west of Ukhrul district bordering Senapati district on Wednesday.

The much anticipated model village is set to be constructed under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), and Champhung was selected from among a number of other villages.

Speaking on the occasion, Maharaja Sanajaoba said that Champhung village has a long historical bond with the Meiteis, mentioning that a girl named Yeoza from Champhung village was married to a Maharaja of Manipur in the past and its stories are still told.
