Manipur, Jan. 17 -- Titular King of Manipur, Leisemba Sanajaoba appealed to the writers of Manipur to start publishing their books in Meitei Mayek (Manipuri script) or both Bengali script and Meitei Mayek, as the younger generations have stopped learning in Bengali script.

Sanajaoba was speaking as the chief guest during the commemoration of the 291st Puya Meithaba (burning of Manipur sacred scripture) day on Friday at Uchiwa Ebudhou Pakhangba Laikol, Imphal.

He said there is a need of translating all the books of Manipur written in Bengali script to Meitei Mayek, as in the future almost all the people of Manipur will not be able to read in Bengali script.
