Manipur, Jan. 23 -- The International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Thursday ordered Myanmar to take emergency measures to prevent genocide of Rohingya Muslim minority in the country, saying the community is "extremely vulnerable to violence".

In a unanimous decision by a panel of 17 judges, the principal judicial organ of the United Nations in The Hague, ordered Myanmar to take "all measures within its power to prevent alleged genocide against Rohingyas and report back within four months on what measure Myanmar has taken to comply with the order.

The ruling comes despite de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi defending her country.
