Manipur, March 2 -- After the foot of the ancient bridge was found recently, the chief minister had inspected the site on February 6 along with some cabinet ministers and officials.
After the foot of an ancient bridge was recently discovered during the construction of Kangla eastern gate, five wooden pillars believed to be a part of the bridge were excavated on Tuesday.
The construction work is being carried out by Manipur Police housing under MAHUD department.
The ongoing construction work started in December last year and it was initiated to preserve and protect the ancestral palace of Manipur.
Samples of the ancient foot of the bridge have been sent to California, USA for carbon dating to find out when the bridge was constructed. T...
