IMPHAL, May 22 -- Roadside eviction drive which was initiated yesterday along RIMS road stretch continued today despite impediments caused by public.
In order to reduce traffic congestion along RIMS road stretch, evacuation of roadside encroachers started yesterday by traffic police along with other state police by seizing items placed on public property. During the drive conducted yesterday, police took down signboards, construction materials placed on public property.
Mention may be made that shopkeepers were notified by superintendent of police (traffic), Khoisnam Sarma earlier to evacuate movable and immovable items along the road side, before commencing the drive.
