Manipur, April 11 -- The Communist Party of India (CPI) Manipur State Council has appealed for relaxation of lockdown imposed to contain COVID-19 only on phase-wise manner.

The party, in a release, said that the state secretariat, CPI appreciated the efforts of the government to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. However, as the majority of the population in Manipur are working class, the labourers are facing more inconveniences in earning their livelihood, it said and urged the government to take up more relief measures so that the working class is less burdened by the lockdown.

While condemning the politicisation during rice distribution in each assembly constituencies, it appealed for a collective fight against COVID-19.
