Pakistan, June 30 -- Major General Nigar Johar has become Pakistan's first female officer to be promoted to the rank of lieutenant general, the military's media wing said on Tuesday.

In a tweet, the Inter-Services Public Relati0ns (ISPR) Direct0r General Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar, said that the 0fficer has als0 been app0inted as the first female surge0n general 0f the Pakistan Army.

She hails fr0m Panjpeer village, in Swabi district, the statement added.

In 2017, the newly pr0m0ted lieutenant general became thethird w0man 0fficerin the hist0ry 0f the Pakistan Army t0 reach the rank 0f maj0r general.
