The United States Congress will vote on Thursday on limiting President Donald Trump's war-making powers.

The resolution is expected to easily pass the House, however, it would face a more difficult time in the Senate, which is controlled by Trump's fellow Republicans.

On Wednesday, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that the House would vote on Thursday to force Trump to wind down military action against Iran unless he is given explicit authorization from Congress. In a statement, the speaker said that the US president's administration conducted a 'provocative and disproportionate military airstrike targeting high-level Iranian military officials', international media reported.
