Young woman dies by suicide at microfinance office in Darbhanga
DARBHANGA, May 29 -- A 26-year-old unmarried woman was found dead by hanging from a ceiling fan at a microfinance office in Darbhanga on Wednesday morning, police said.
The deceased, a resident of Bekna village under Akbarpur police station in Purnia district, was employed at the Bajaj Microfinance office, which operates from a rented house in Basera Colony on Barheta Road, under the jurisdiction of Bahadurpur police station.
The office has reportedly been functioning at the location for the past one and a half years.
According to sources, the woman had been working at the office for over a year.
Her colleagues said she was behaving normally earlier in the day and had spoken to them without showing any signs of distress. They had left the office shortly after 8 am for market-related work, leaving her alone.
The incident came to light when the house owner's maid discovered the woman hanging from a ceiling fan.
House owner Rajeev Kumar was immediately alerted and informed the police.
A team from Bahadurpur police station, along with Sadar sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Amit Kumar, reached the spot and began an investigation.
"Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide,"said the SDPO, adding that further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of death....
