woman reaches purnea central jail after killing husband: Cops
PURNEA, April 2 -- A 35-year-old woman on Wednesday reached the Purnea Central Jail and pleased with the officials that she must be put in prison as she had killed her husband, officials said.
Officials added that the body of 40-year-old Umesh Singh, wo the woman claimed to be her husband and resident of Kasba 10 km from Purnea district headquarters, was recovered 30-km away at Amour.
The body, according to officials, was found near the house of the woman.
"After the body was thrown in a gunny bag, the woman identified as Sunita Devi reached Purnea Central Jail and asked the officials to put her in jail as she killed her husband," police said, adding, "Soon the jail officials contacted local police and the woman was taken into custody."
Station house officer (SHO) of Kasba police station said, "We have started a probe and forensic experts have collected the evidence from the site."
He added: "Since the body was recovered from Amour police station, the case will be lodged there."
He however said that the police were interrogating whether there were other people involved with the woman. He said that one Mahendra Singh has been detained and police had sent the body to government medical college and hospital for postmortem....
