Woman raped, two held at Muzaffarpur
PATNA, May 16 -- A 20-year-old woman was raped by three youths in Muzaffarpur district, police said on Thursday, adding that the perpetrators also filmed the crime and uploaded the video on social media.
The crime was committed two days ago, but the victim's mother lodged a complaint at the Rampur Hari police station after she came to know that a video of the incident had been uploaded on social media. Police have booked three persons under the gang-rape section of the BNS Act and various sections of the IT Act.
Muzaffarpur rural superintendent of police (SP) Vidyasagar said that the incident took place around 2 am on Tuesday, when the victim stepped out of her house to relieve herself. As soon as she went outside, three neighbours caught hold of her, took her to a nearby mango orchard, and outraged her modesty at gunpoint.
About two hours later, the trio released the girl and threatened to kill her family members if she disclosed the incident. The family mustered the courage to lodge a police complaint only after learning that the video had been uploaded online and was being circulated in the area, the SP said. He added that the victim's statement would be recorded before a magistrate on Friday.
The victim has been referred to Shree Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) for medical examination. An FIR has been registered against Mithun Kumar (18), Raja Kumar (19), and Manish Kumar (20) based on the statement of the victim's mother. She alleged that the accused held her daughter captive for over two hours and confined her in a hut at gunpoint.
Police have arrested two of the accused - Raja and Mithun - and recovered a toy pistol from their possession....
