BETTIAH, Sept. 13 -- A 67-year-old woman was killed in a suspected tiger attack while grazing her goats on the outskirts of a village near the Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) in Bihar's West Champaran district on Thursday evening, officials said. Dr. Nesamani K, Conservator and Field Director of VTR, said the victim, Umachhi Devi, had gone to the fields near the Deardah river in the Goberdhana forest range. "While the goats were grazing, the elderly woman was resting near a sugarcane field. Suddenly, a tiger emerged from the field and pounced on her," he said. On receiving information, forest officials launched a search operation and later recovered the body from deep inside the forest on Thursday night. "The post-mortem has been conducted," Dr. Nesamani added. This is the second such incident in the Goberdhana forest range in the past few weeks....
