GAYA JI, July 28 -- A 55-year-old woman, a widow, was beaten to death allegedly by her tenant after tying her hands and feet in Gaya Ji district on Sunday, police said. Police said Chameli Devi was living alone on the first floor of her house at Chatra More locality of Dobhi market and she had rented the ground floor to a tenant from Uttar Pradesh, two months back. The tenant was living with his family. Her two sons lived outside the state. When the widow's door was not opened till the afternoon, the neighbours shouted and tried to open the gate. The tenant was also absent with his wife and children after locking his door. The neighbours managed to go to the first floor where they found the hands and feet of the woman tied and she was lying dead on the bed. Suspecting that the tenant had killed her and had escaped after murder, they informed police. Dobhi SHO Mukesh Kumar reached the place and sent the body to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital for postmortem examination. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Anand Kumar sent City SP Ramanand Kumar Kaushal to the place and formed a special investigation team (SIT) under sub-divisional police officer Sherghati-2, Sanjiv Kumar Prabhat to solve the case and arrest the accused....
