AURANGABAD, June 14 -- A 26-year-old woman and mother of two was crushed to death by a tractor during a violent land dispute at Rahra village under Badem police station in Aurangabad district on Friday. Eight others were also injured in the clash, police said. The deceased, identified as Geeta Devi, wife of Akhilesh Yadav of Devariya village under Narari Kala Khurd police station, had come to her maternal home in Rahra village 10 days ago, police further said. The dispute reportedly involved Geeta's father, Ramashray Yadav, and his cousin Narayan Yadav, over the possession of a plot of land. Around 7 am on Friday, Ramashray's family was erecting pillars to construct a house when Narayan Yadav arrived with his armed supporters, including his son Om Prakash Yadav, who began demolishing the structure using a tractor. When Ramashray and other family members tried to intervene, they were allegedly attacked with traditional weapons. As the situation escalated, Geeta Devi rushed to save her family members but was allegedly run over by the tractor driven by Om Prakash, leading to her death on the spot. The injured were taken to Community Health Centre, Barun from where they were referred to Sadar Hospital in Aurangabad for better treatment. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sanjay Kumar Pandey said a case of murder and attempted murder has been registered based on the statement of the deceased's father.
