PATNA, July 27 -- A notorious criminal carrying a reward of Rs.25,000 on his head and involved in at least 30 criminal cases was injured in an exchange of fire with police in Bihar's Gopalganj district after attempting to escape from custody on Saturday morning, officials said. Police recovered a country-made pistol, along with two live and empty cartridges from his possession. Ajay, a resident of Bangra Bindutoli under Daudpur police station in Saran district, faces multiple cases across Saran, Siwan, Gopalganj, and adjoining districts of Uttar Pradesh. During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in several cases registered at Baikunthpur, Sidhwalia, Thave, Mirganj, and Town police stations in Gopalganj.
