DARBHANGA, Sept. 8 -- A video from Rahul Gandhi's 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Darbhanga has reignited controversy at Darbhanga College of Engineering (DCE). The clip, posted on August 27 on Rahul's official YouTube channel, showed a youth handing him a memorandum alleging corruption and atrocities by the college principal.
"There is ample corruption, bhaiya. Twelve hundred students' careers are at stake," the youth was heard saying. "More than 100 children have been held back, bhaiya," he yelled.
Rahul Gandhi, in response, asked, "Who is the principal?" even as placards with the slogan 'Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhodd' were being flashed.
The DCE administration, however, dismissed the allegations," identifying the youth as ex-physics lab technician (visiting) Herumbh Sharma, sacked for alleged misconduct. Principal Sandeep Tiwari termed it a 'stunt' and part of a larger conspiracy to defame the college administration, citing a complaint he had lodged with Mabbi police on August 23 against Sharma and a rusticated student Amrit, for trespass and alleged narcotics circulation.
In his written complaint to police, the principal alleged on the night of August 22, the duo forcibly entered the Boys' Hostel, obstructed security staff, instigated students to strike, and circulated false propaganda against the administration through fake social media handles....
