VIB forms spl cells for speedy trial of officials
Patna, Jan. 1 -- The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) has formed separate cells to ensure speedy trials and expeditious departmental proceedings against arrested corrupt officers and personnel, VIB director general (DG) Jitendra Singh Gangwar said on Wednesday.
The dedicated cells will help bring corruption cases to a decisive conclusion, ensuring swift action and punishment for those found guilty, he added.
Gangwar said the new initiative is part of the "zero tolerance against corruption" policy of the Nitish government.
DIG-2 Mrityunjay Kumar will head the speedy trial cell and will focus on the speedy disposal of cases so that culprits are punished within the stipulated time. A speedy departmental proceedings cell has been formed under the leadership of DIG Naveen Chandra Jha, who will ensure effective action in all cases so that the pace of investigation is maintained and there is no unnecessary delay.
A digital technology cell, which helps investigations through modern digital and technological resources, will make the process more transparent, accurate, and effective. The VIB DG said a proposal has been sent to the Bihar Police headquarters to depute four SPs, nine DSPs, 30 inspectors, and 20 sub-inspectors. In the last 25 years, the VIB has registered 72-73 FIRs annually. However, in 2025, the bureau registered 122 FIRs against corrupt officials, he added....
